Babel participated in ‘Hyperautomation in Insurance with AI,’ a conference organised by ICEA, where we had the opportunity to share with our partner Appian a space for reflection and dialogue with experts in technology, transformation, and business from leading companies in the sector.
The conference was opened by María José Salcedo Cruz, Director of Research at ICEA, and Estefanía Vázquez, Regional Vice President FSI Appian Iberia & Middle East, who highlighted the importance of continuing to drive innovation in the sector. Next, Marcial Fernández Amorós, Director of Operations at ICEA, contextualised the current situation in the sector, followed by José de Ramón, Director of Exponential Technologies at Babel, who presented the main challenges and opportunities for the industry and spoke about how to transform the insurance sector through automation, focusing on data, customer experience and investment in talent and smart technology. For his part, Roberto Serrano, Senior Solution Consultant at Appian, presented international use cases based on AI agents.
‘Transforming the insurance sector involves focusing on data, customer experience and investment in talent and smart technology. The creation of new ecosystems, changing consumer dynamics and the emergence of new players make it necessary to reinvent the sector.’
— José de Ramón, Director of Exponential Technologies at Babel
The central focus of the conference was the round table discussion, moderated by Marcial Fernández Amorós, with the participation of Luis Carlos Tristán, Director of Insurance at Babel; Jesús Sanz, Director of Architecture and Innovation at MAPFRE; and Andrés Espín, Head of Technological Innovation at SegurCaixa Adeslas.
This dialogue addressed four fundamental aspects for maximising the impact of hyperautomation:
- Level of maturity: How to move from pilot initiatives to structured programmes that generate results at scale.
- Best practices and common mistakes: The importance of defining clear objectives, integrating business and technology from the outset and avoiding isolated solutions.
- Scalability: Factors for replicating and extending automation to core processes and strategic areas.
- Real and sustainable impact: How to measure return on investment and ensure data quality and governance to maintain effectiveness over time.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision: hyperautomation is not just a question of technology, but of strategy, talent and organisational culture, key elements for successfully addressing the present and future challenges of the insurance sector.
At Babel, we would like to thank ICEA, Appian and all those who attended for this space for reflection and collaboration, which reinforces our commitment to supporting insurance companies in their digital transformation through intelligent automation solutions with real and sustainable impact.
