Making need a virtue
Prosegur is the leading security company in Spain, is internationally present in more than 26 countries, and has a workforce of over 160,000 employees. A company has long been immersed in a digital transformation process. One basic element of this transformation has been POPs (Prosegur Operating Platform), which has led to the renewal of its operational core in more than 14 countries.
POPs has led the digital transformation process of security guards and technicians, as well as Prosegur’s relationship with its customers. It has focused particularly on processes involving customers, guards and technicians, seeking efficiency and excellence, and trying to anticipate the needs of its customers, offering self-service capabilities within a mobility environment/context.
To define the operational core of the surveillance and technology businesses
The challenge was to reconceptualise and streamline the way in which more than two thirds of the company operates, and do so with a tight time-to-market and in a customer and user-centric manner.
The main goal was to create a new technology platform, applicable to security projects and services, and capable of simplifying and improving performance while making business processes more efficient compared to the tool they previously owned.
Knowledge of our users as a basic ingredient, garnished with a little agilism and seasoned with a lot of co-working with the client
The project initially required marathon sessions to understand the business context, define the objectives, and become familiar with our target, etc.
Within the customer and user vision, we spent an important part of our time listening to the teams who were going to use our product, understanding their needs, identifying their pain points, and generating desirability vs development time matrices, with the aim of obtaining a robust MVP that could evolve over time.
Numerous work sessions were required with the areas involved, as well as the use of qualitative techniques such as interviews and focus with users. From these techniques we obtained the necessary insights that enabled us to undertake the product ideation within reasonable margins, despite the inherent iterations of an agile philosophy. As sprints were progressively planned, the design tasks were undertaken through wireframes, with an eye on complex Information architecture subject to frequent changes.
Once the first wireframes were approved, the client’s impatience required us to submit a visual proposal (UI design) due to the strategic importance of the project within Prosegur.
During the ideation phase, functionality was tested through user tests, which sometimes involved iterations, and therefore reworking, but enabled us to tread firmly, knowing that the result was a quality product that had been tested and accepted, where the user had contributed and become involved, which also favoured its acceptance.
The functions of the different sprints were tested while the different interfaces were being designed. Once the UI design was approved, development teams speeded up their efficiency and optimised delivery times through the use of the Outsystem low-code platform.
