A lasting relationshipWe thought we would be able to do it, and we were.
Our partnership began in 2015, when it was still Bancopopular-e and we referred to the WiZink brand as Newco. The aim was to create an online bank specialising in cards and savings products for Spain (Portugal would join later). It had to be a bank without any branches, operating through digital channels and other supplementary channels, such as the telephone channel and posts where there was high foot traffic, such as railway stations and airports, shopping centres, etc.
On 30 June 2016, Bancopopular-e became known as WiZink, purchasing the Barclays Barclaycard credit card business in Spain and Portugal in November. WiZink Portugal was launched in 2017.
To conceptualise a core product in banking in record time
The aim was to provide a competitive, modern and usable product in the market in a short time and to assist company growth by covering the credit (card) and savings businesses of the bank's private area.
Conceptualization, agility and commitment in deliveries with a hyper-motivated team
To create a product from scratch, from conceptualisation to build, a multidisciplinary team had to be formed, made up of UX research, UX interaction, and UI Designer profiles, as well as web and mobile analytics experts. They all had the same goal: to create something to be proud of.
Regular two-week sprints were established for each phase of conceptualization, UI design and front, based on previously-decided functional divisions. This method of working provided us with the necessary flexibility to iterate on many occasions, as well as the possibility of making constant deliveries to development teams, which in turn were integrated into the different platforms required.
During the research phase we defined the goals, audience, a fresh tone and style of the brand, and a deep benchmark in the market. All this enabled us to establish the basis for devising a consistent product, working in continuous workshops with business, and constantly liaising with the IT department to confirm that the function required and the necessary integration into other systems was possible, as well as future scalability, all with a tight time-to-market.
We therefore deployed a product that was being refined based on the data obtained during measurement and on the suggestions provided by the callcenter, which provided a first-hand indication of customer requirements.
Once a stable, high-quality product was obtained in which users felt very comfortable, new techniques were introduced to anticipate and improve, using guerrilla testing and advanced analytics...
WiZink has a bright future ahead of it, and we are very proud to be part of that. We've been together for several years, but as Antonio Machado said, you make your own path as you walk, and this path is a long one. We now know each other well, we work well together and we know our weaknesses and strengths. We know we have endless possibilities and we want to do it together.
